Patrol Meeting 2/13/07

I. Budget Items
   a. $150 for medical supplies (can Lynn get us a deal?  before moving to Utah?)
   b. New tent ($250?)  can we get one with a red cross and/or logo?  maybe Doug B. or Joe Re knows someone at REI, or we could talk to IMBA.
   c. Cell phone (track phone?  $60 for the phone, pay as you go).  The idea is to have a permanent number we can print up.
   d. Food.
   e. Event supplies
       - Water
   f. First-aid/CPR ($100-150)
   g. Maps and other literature.  Possibly including:
       - Wompatuck
       - Lowell/Dracut
       - Vietnam
       - Bradley Palmer/Willowdale
       - Borderland
       - Ames-Nowell
     Maybe use park maps with patrol stickers or an insert, rather than printing them ourselves?
   h. Patrol clinic.
   i. Money comes from Greater Boston and North Shore NEMBA this year, Wompatuck also this year.

II. Contact in the DCR.  Need letter signed from them as to which parks we can ride in.
   - Have one for our existing parks, want to bring that back to the DCR to ask them to extend it.
   - It was suggested that Art might do this.

III. Expansion to southeast NEMBA
   - Postponed until next time because Malcolm Neilson couldn't make it.

IV. Bike maintenance
   - Want to do it some day when we could go ride to test the stuff afterwards.
   - Thinking Sunday April 15 when the parks reopen to biking (unanimously voted in).
   - Note to Steve to get Lynn Woods ranger station (see also Patrol Clinic).

V. Patrol Clinic
   - June 9/10
   - Need to start advertising in Singletracks.  Terry will put that in Singletracks.
   - Note to Steve for Lynn Woods ranger station.

VI. Patrol recruitment and advertising
   - How are we going to attract new people?
   - Sam has article in next Singletracks.
   - Flyers in bike shops.  Print from previous flier?  Must be in color to attract attention.  Individuals will take them to their bike shop, post what they did to GB website.  We'll print out a few for the next meeting, or people can print them themselves.
   - Local newspapers?  Wrong demographics, probably expensive.
   - Banners on park kiosks.
   - Sam will talk to Philip about getting a link on home page, maybe also North Shore.
   - Need to update the page on NEMBA website, very out of date.  Ask Philip if he would like some help?  Edit page and send it to Philip?
   - Talk up on NEMBA forum.

VII. Rides
   - Family rides were great.
   - Family rides at Great Brook would be good.
   - Jeanne will keep posting rides for Wompatuck.
   - Ride at H-P this weekend?  (Probably snowshoeing!)

VIII. March meeting volunteer?
   - Jeanne offers, but won't be hurt if someone else volunteers.

Other stuff:
   - Sam has a couple of yellow patrol shirts; ask him what size
   - Jim needs to make CD of patrol pictures.  Sam will ask Philip Keyes about how to get it to him.
