New England Mountain Bike Patrol Meeting Minutes, 11 July 2006

Attending: Keith Berkoben, James Vogh, Jeanne Trebek, Terry Kennedy, Jim Frost, Thad Sze, Art Paradice, Sam Davis, Kathi Durning, Vicki Tyler, Steven Fuchs, and Doug Baumgarten.

1. A make-up class for CPR/First Aid is being planned. It was decided that spreading it over two week nights (~6 to 10) would be better than one weekend day. At this point, it will be in early August and the instructors will find a suitable location. Kathi, Sam, Jeanne, and James are signed up. If anyone else needs to be recertified, contact Art Paradice, paradice1@mindspring.com to sign up.

2. A woman from the North Andover area approached Sam about leading true family rides in Harold Parker on July 22 and 29. She represents area Girl Scouts. Sam is asking for volunteers to help out leading those rides. They will start at 11:00AM from the Rangers Station. Terry (both days) and Jim F (29) have already offered to help. This is a great opportunity to do some Patrol/NEMBA PR and patrol work. If you are available either or both days, please help out. Contact Sam, st.davis@mindspring.com

3. Our involvement with Dungeon Rock – Steve thought that Dan might have changed the lock to Dungeon Rock in response to attempted vandalism. Steve will follow up with Dan.

4. We need to do a better job posting patrol rides. Thanks to those who have been posting. A couple of rides were discussed at the meeting. One on Saturday at Great Brook (mellowish) and possibly one on Sunday at H-P. Post to GBPatrol@frostbytes.com

5. Clinic Recap – We have four very strong and capable new patrollers. There are no issues with their bike skills. The only obstacle is riding at the four parks. Please help out by inviting them to rides in any of the four parks.

6. NEMBAFest has been rescheduled for September 9th at Wompatuck State Park in Hingham. The Patrol will be providing coverage, so mark your calendars. Camping will be available.

7. Medical supplies and tubes were available at the meeting for replenishing individual stocks. Some medical supplies are in short supply and will be ordered. If you have any medical supply or bike supply sources that you are willing to tap for donations to the patrol or discounted pricing, please do so.

The next Patrol meeting is scheduled for August 8th at 7:00 PM, location to be determined
